Rhode Island Report Tracks Striped Bass and Improving Tautog Bite

On The Water’s 1 October Rhode Island report highlighted post-storm striped bass activity in the Providence and Seekonk rivers and the upper bay.

Surface feeding was also reported around Jamestown and Narragansett. The report described an improving tautog bite, with green crabs producing fish in approximately 20–40 feet of water.

Reports of bonito and false albacore were mixed, and sightings did not translate into consistent action for every boat. The update offers an early-October snapshot of several fisheries, rather than a promise of current conditions. Anglers planning a trip should check the latest weather, local reports and applicable regulations.
