Bukayo Saka Faces Further Weeks Out as Arsenal Take Cautious Approach to Recovery

Bukayo Saka will remain unavailable for several more weeks as he recovers from the quadriceps injury suffered against Bayern Munich, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said on 6 November.

Reuters reported the update ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with Hull City. Arteta indicated that the winger could begin increasing his activity after the international break, while stopping short of setting a date for his return to competitive football.

Return to the pitch is not a confirmed comeback date

Saka was injured during Arsenal’s Champions League draw in Munich last month. The latest assessment means he will also miss England’s November Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

Arteta’s comments distinguish the next stage of rehabilitation from an immediate return to the team. Beginning work on the pitch would represent progress, but the manager has not said when Saka will be ready to start a match.

That uncertainty matters for selection planning. Arsenal must prepare for their forthcoming fixtures with the players currently available rather than build their approach around an unconfirmed recovery deadline.

More encouraging update on Konsa

Arteta also provided a more positive assessment of Ezri Konsa after the defender left the Champions League victory over Slavia Prague with knee discomfort. Reuters reported that Konsa was feeling better, while a separate account of Friday’s press conference said his withdrawal had been precautionary.

The two updates leave Arsenal with different decisions to manage: Saka needs further recovery time, while Konsa’s condition offers more encouragement. Neither situation calls for treating training availability and match fitness as interchangeable.

Arsenal look to maintain momentum

Arsenal entered the weekend leading the Premier League with 24 points from nine matches, according to Reuters. Maintaining that position requires the side to continue producing results while a major attacking player remains absent.

For Saka, the next meaningful development will be his response as activity increases. Arteta’s message is one of patience: there is a possible next step after the break, but a competitive comeback remains a matter of weeks rather than days.
