Jobe Bellingham and Josh King Earn First Senior England Call-Ups for Nations League Finale
Jobe Bellingham and Josh King have received their first senior England call-ups as Thomas Tuchel prepares his squad for November’s Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.
England’s official announcement named a 25-player group, with the Borussia Dortmund and Fulham youngsters progressing from the under-21 pathway. Tuchel retained much of the group from the previous camp while creating room for players whose recent performances have earned a closer look.
New opportunities within a settled group
In an interview published by England Football on 6 November, Tuchel credited Bellingham’s progress at Dortmund and explained that his selection had been earned through sustained performances. The midfielder joins his brother Jude in the senior squad.
King also brings previous experience of training around the senior group, having joined preparations in the United States before the World Cup. Tuchel highlighted his versatility and the different attacking positions in which he could be assessed.
The call-ups offer an opportunity rather than an automatic place in the starting side. Both players must now show how their club strengths fit the demands of the senior international team.
Quarter-final qualification is the immediate objective
England’s squad announcement says the team sit second in their Nations League group. Avoiding defeat against Croatia would secure a place in the quarter-finals, while finishing first also depends on the outcome of the Spain match and goal difference.
That competitive situation gives the camp two purposes: introducing emerging players and completing the group campaign successfully. Tuchel’s emphasis on continuity reflects the need to manage both.
Kane approaches another appearance milestone
The international window could also bring a record for Harry Kane. England Football says the captain would move beyond Peter Shilton’s 125 appearances if he plays, becoming the men’s senior team’s outright appearance leader.
Individual milestones and first call-ups provide notable storylines, but the fixtures themselves remain the central test. For Bellingham and King, the next step is to contribute within that setting as England seek to turn a strong qualifying position into confirmed progress.
